Ruthu Hulikal Rooparaghunath

Ruthu Rooparaghunath is a Veena artist and vocalist trained in the Carnatic classical tradition. The Veena is India's National instrument and its origins are thousands of years old. Beginning her training at a young age, she was named a National Semifinalist in Veena at the Naadbhed SPIC MACAY Doordarshan Veena Competition in 2014 and has won prizes at the Music Academy Madras and Rasika Ranjana Sabha.

Over the years, her music has traveled widely. She has performed on a Bhakti France Tour with concerts in Paris, Troyes, and Reims, at a diplomatic Diwali celebration with the Indian Ambassador at VU Amsterdam, and in events across the Netherlands. She has also collaborated across traditions, including a Veena composition created for the Blurring Boundaries art exhibition at 079 Gallery in Delhi. Passionate about sharing the Veena with wider audiences, Ruthu has also performed at temples, orphanages, and senior centers across India and the US. She also led a workshop at the Deepa Academy for Visually Impaired Children.
